Updated April 06, 2020

As we start another week and continue to navigate this unprecedented time together, I want to express how grateful we are that you’re a part of our Capital Placement community.

Despite social distancing, we’ve never felt more closely connected than we are right now. In this moment of collective pause, we’re using our time to reflect, ideate, and develop a thoughtful, comprehensive plan to emerge stronger than before. As part of these efforts, we’re working to quickly create new opportunities in response to the current environment.

We appreciate the tremendous feedback we have received on our digital initiatives we plan on launching this week, these include:

  • Remote internship opportunities with companies in New York, London and Singapore. If you are interested in doing a remote internship, you can now apply for the program!
  • Virtual social events- we have our first one on Friday, April 17th and 5 pm BST! More details on this to follow.
  • We have a few other things we are working on, which we will reveal shortly!

As we previously shared, we continue to accept applications for both our virtual, as well as, our regular internship program as we understand all of you are keen to progress your careers as soon as it is safely possible for you to do so and we want to be in a position to help you as soon as we can. We’re inspired by your feedback, and we look forward to your continued suggestions as we stay connected digitally and plan ahead.

Our Promise

For nearly 9 years, we’ve built a brand that’s not just international internships– it’s about helping our interns build their career. With that guiding principle in mind, we will continue to work hard for our interns, employees, family, and friends when they need us most – whenever, wherever they are. Thank you for your understanding during these difficult times. Please take care of yourselves and each other and we will continue doing our very best to do the same.

With gratitude,

Immigration update

Please click here for the latest from the UK Government/ UKVI regarding visas. You must update your records with the Coronavirus Immigration Team (CIT) if your visa is expiring before 31st May 2020.

P.s- We will be reducing the frequency of the updates to once every 2 weeks from now.

Updated March 30, 2020

I want to start off by saying we understand It’s hard to navigate the unknown, there are no rulebooks on how to deal with the coronavirus, but one thing is for sure, this will pass and life will be back to normal when we come out of this and that is the theme of this week’s update.

We continue to accept applications

We understand that as we get familiar with the new norm of social distancing and staying at home, it is natural to start thinking of the wider impact of the Coronavirus, including its potential impact on your career.

We want to help you be prepared for limiting the impact of this virus on your future career. That is why we continue to accept applications for our programs, so once things start returning to normal, we are ready to help you with your plans for travelling and working abroad.

We are currently only accepting applications for our short-term programs starting in June and for our long-term programs, August is the earliest you will be able to start. This is subject to change- depending on medical and professional advice. Our programs will only start once it is safe for our participants to work in London, New York or Singapore.

As we are continuing to accept applications throughout this period, many of our participants will be eager to start their internship abroad as soon as possible. When social and travel restrictions begin to lift, we will begin our placement process for those who have first joined the program, as we have always done in the past. So, if you are eager to begin your internship abroad, consider applying as soon as you are able to.

Remote internships

For the participants who are already on our program, we want to support you by enhancing your career in the best way that we can. We are currently developing a remote internship program with a select number of partner firms and I will have a further update on this next week.

We are looking to develop this program at no extra cost to you and you will be able to continue with your international internship once it is safe to do so. if you are interested in doing a remote internship while we wait for things to improve, please get in touch!

An update to everyone that is currently on our London Program

The UKVI has updated their website late last week with advice for all temporary residents in the UK about visa expiration and next steps.

If you’re in the UK and your visa/ BRP expires between now and 31 May 2020, your visa will be extended to 31 May 2020, if you cannot leave the UK because of travel restrictions or self-isolation related to coronavirus (COVID-19).

This is not an automatic process and you will have to contact the Coronavirus Immigration Team and the full instructions on what you will have to do can be found here

We will keep you updated as the situation evolves.

Wrapping up

Now more than ever, we can all appreciate just how small the world truly is, and the importance of coming together and keeping our loved ones safe. As always, we are here to help and support anyone that is thinking of interning abroad in the future, currently on our program or if you have ever done an internship through us in the past. If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know and we will be happy to help you in any way we can.

Updated March 20, 2020

With the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Capital Placement is working diligently to help each of our participants and staff members currently on our programs stay safe, secure and as comfortable as possible in each of the cities we operate in. We take the health and safety of all of our customers extremely seriously and, over the past few days, our primary focus has been on providing guidance and support to the members of the Capital Placement community. We understand the information we are providing is important for them to notify friends and family back home that are concerned about their wellbeing.

As the situation continues to evolve, we’ll do our best to provide updates in a timely fashion. Here is how we’re handling the pandemic right now regarding our community.

Current CP Participants

Capital Placement’s programs are still operating, however, given the current state of travel and immigration and the latest safety and security advisories, we have halted the start of all new programs for 60 days. We have communicated the following options to give our active participants the flexibility to find a situation in which they feel most comfortable.

Option A: All active interns in London and Singapore have the option to remain in the city they are currently in and extend their stay through April. Our local teams will continue to be available for support on the ground.

Option B: If a participant would like to leave their program, Capital Placement will support them in any way possible.

Our team has been working tirelessly to ensure that we have contingency plans in place to be ahead of possible situations that may arise. Please note that the approach for each program will vary and may change over time as new information comes in, but every decision will be made under very careful guidance and consideration.

Future committed Participants

For participants who have committed to a Capital Placement internship program that is planned to start on or after May 25, 2020, we are monitoring the situation closely and will be in communication with you directly about changes with the status of your program. In the event that we need to postpone or change your program, we will move you towards a future Capital Placement program so you can still look forward to interning with us. If you have any further questions, please contact us.

Future Programs

We are committed to delivering great work and travel experiences to interns both on our current programs and future ones as well! If you’re interested in a Capital Placement internship program, we welcome you to schedule a call and commit to one of our programs set to start August 2020 and onward. Our team is available to chat through your options and answer questions you may have. Please keep in mind that while we are unable to tell you how far into the future you should commit to an itinerary, we can assure you that if circumstances change and your program is changed or postponed due to coronavirus, we will allow you to join a program even further out.

While our heart breaks for all of the communities around the world who are affected by this pandemic, we hope that everyone is taking the additional measures to stay healthy at this time and also doing what’s best for their own local community to keep the situation from getting worse.

Capital Placement is confident that amidst these conditions that we can continue to provide great internship and travel experiences while staying on top of the situation until things return to normal. We will be updating this page to communicate any major changes that happen with our company or community.
