Application Process
Visa Criteria
Before you take on an internship in the UK, you will need a Tier-5 visa—specifically the Temporary Work GAE (Government Authorised Exchange) visa, designed for London internships. These are the eligibility criterias on attaining the visa:
- You need to either be a full-time degree student or have graduated within the last two years before the commencement of your internship.
- For those who do not speak English as their first language, you will need to complete a SELT (Secure English Language Test) with a score of 6.0 or above. We also accept a valid IELTS/ TOEFL certificate.
- As a UK immigration requirement, you need to show Proof of Funds with the statement reflecting a minimum of £ 1270. This minimum balance should have been maintained in your account for at least 30 days consecutively at the time of application. This can come from your family or a guarantor.

What kind of company will I be interning with?
With all of Capital Placement’s programs, you are in complete control. If you successfully pass our Zoom interview, your CV will be presented to our partner firms that meet your career aspirations and you will have the opportunity to speak with your future Supervisor and employer. If you are not satisfied with the company you have been provided with, we can provide you with additional company options for you to choose from.
What do you mean by a guaranteed internship?
In the unlikely event, we are unable to find you a company that matches your preferences within the 8 week period, a full refund will be provided to you- no questions asked.
Can I change the company once I start my internship?
I’m a UK resident; why am I not eligible for the London Summer Internship Program?
Capital Placement’s programs are all about experiencing the rewards, excitement, and challenges of working in a foreign country. Most of us here have experienced it ourselves and are very passionate about having others benefit from it. Interning abroad is more than just about the internship, and this broad experience is something we are incredibly passionate about.
For this reason, we will not accept applications for programs in a country from residents of the same country- you are far better off without our help for this. We would like you to build not only professional experience but also a global experience that builds your international skill set as a global citizen.

Will I be paid during the internship in London?
What is the procedure and timeline of applying for a Tier 5 Visa for summer internships?
The first thing you will need to do is secure a Sponsorship Certificate from an authorised Tier 5 visa provider. We work in partnership with BUNAC and AIESAC, allowing for a smooth facilitation of this process.
The visa sponsorship process could take up to 2-4 weeks at most, while the UK Visa and Immigration Office’s standard visa application processing time is 15 working days.
How long does it take to secure an internship after receiving an offer from Capital Placement?
It normally takes 3 – 4 months from accepting our offer to arriving in London to start your internship.
How do the payments work for summer internships?
You would need to pay a £50 application fee to initiate your internship procedure. If you have successfully passed our interview and have received an offer to join, you will need to pay a deposit of £600 to secure your place on the summer program. The deposit will be deducted from the total program fee. The remaining amount will be split into two equal payments. The first payment is due once you have accepted an internship offer from the employer you wish to work for. The final amount is due once you have received your Tier 5 visa sponsorship.
How long are summer internships?
Summer internships generally occur during the months of April, May, June and July and are varied from a 6-8 week duration.
The main focus of these type of internships are to provide interns with a fair practical knowledge in their industry during a short timeline, ideally during graduate summer vacation.
Are summer internships paid?
Due to UK Tier 5 Visa requirements and conditions, there are only limited paid internships available during the summer for 6-8 weeks duration.
If you want to attain a higher chance of getting paid internships in London, we would suggest you to look for internships from 3-12 months duration.
